Art

It takes a beautiful heart to see a beautiful painting. And trust me, the world is full of beautiful paintings. The problem is, no one is looking at art anymore. And when I refer to paintings and art, I am referring to people.

Communication is a lost art, and a generation has lost their vision. We don’t build relationships anymore. We bully and belittle. When is the last time you listened without judgement? When was the last time you were safe for someone to express themselves? We are making fun of people, just because they believe differently than we do. And that’s fucked up!

It is like we have lost our moral compass. Religion, politics, race, and social status are dividing us. We are getting news faster than we can process. Many times, before it can even be fact checked. And what is wrong with fact checking? We attack science and say conspiracy theory. We undermine authority, as if we are above the law. I get it, science has gotten it wrong in the past. They will get it wrong in the future. And yes, some abuse power. Of course we should stand up for our rights. But we are lumping groups of people together, purely on what they believe. You stopped seeing art.

I am blessed that the majority of my circle doesn’t look, act, or believe like me. Why is that? Maybe I’m an artist. Maybe I’m an asshole. But I believe in people that believe in me. Belief systems don’t make you a better person. Your actions do. And if you’re not willing to take an honest look at art, your world will be black and white. And that’s not living. That’s judging. Art is supposed to make you think. And only an artist can appreciate a beautiful painting, even when it does not resonate with them.
