Carve Or Starve
You better start cutting. Because there are very few free meals. In other words, go out and get the life you want. Up your skillset, educate yourself, or surround yourself with people who have the same drive as you. It is not about winning, money, or keeping up with the Joneses. {Fuck them, whoever they are.} It is about happiness. And happiness is not free. You have to work for it.
There will always be events in your life that you have no control over. But what you can control, you should. I have been on top so many times in my life. But the flip side of that coin? I had to crawl out from the pit of Hell. All good. I simply got to carving. Life had other plans for me, so I had to carve out what I wanted my life to look and feel like. I had to make it make sense to me.
Working 39 years in mental health, I’ve seen a lot of people give up. Just surrender to the current circumstances of life. And while I am a big fan of going with the flow, I am not going to allow circumstances to dictate my happiness. Sure, at times life gets the best of me. But I refuse not to learn. To look for the lesson. To use everything to my advantage. So, I start carving…
If we don’t take action we starve. We get the scraps and leftovers. We’ve all been there before, but this is your reminder that you deserve more. No matter what you have done. It is not too late to turn your life around. It may take time. In fact, it probably will. There will be setbacks in your future. But this is a time when you lean in. To not settle.
I am aware that so many are carrying around trauma. Ask for help. Get help. Allow yourself to be helped. Because if you don’t, you will starve. Life will present many twist and turns. It is up to you, to carve out what a healthy life looks like. No one else.
Carve today. So you don’t starve tomorrow.
