Dirt And Miles

Blessed are the broken. I love them. I gravitate towards them. No, there is nothing wrong with the polished people. You know the ones without any problems. The ones that everything seems to work out for. I love them too. But truth be told, the dark, beat up and bounced back from the dead type of person. The ones that have dirt and miles on them. They will change the world.

I clean up nice. In my life, I have made a ton of money, traveled extensively, and sat at some very impressive tables. Today, I live in a modest little vacation house, in a sleepy little resort town. I serve the homeless and enjoy the quiet life, I created with my wife. We travel quite a bit, want for nothing, and crafted a unique spiritual practice together. Our circle is small, and our love language is silence.

We’ve been through some shit. We have had to rebuild not once, but twice. We never flinched. We held onto our values, and refused to become jaded. And that is poetry. It is like that song that saved you. That movie that always lifts you up. The refusal of laying your cards down, and playing like you know you’re going to win regardless. Dirt and miles, baby.

The sooner you show your scars, the sooner you will become free. Those who remain despite your pain, they are your tribe. Those who did or do not judge you, deserve a seat at your table. Those who have lost it all, have nothing left to lose. It is the dirt and mile that make happy endings. So stand tall. You’ve done nothing wrong. Survival mode will cause you to do some fucked up things. But today you’re not surviving. You’re awakening.

Dirt and miles. It’s time to clean up. It’s time to come home to happiness.
