I Don’t Think Christ Cares

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Well, at least it should be. But somehow, many of us have found a way take away from the spirit of Christmas. I know it is a delicate subject. While I personally have a relationship with Christ, I don’t care that many have taken Christ out of Christmas. And if I am being honest, I don’t think Christ cares either. Let’s get into it.

I mentioned the spirit of Christmas. Yes, many celebrate the birth of Christ. Others celebrate a different holiday, and others will celebrate nothing at all. Me however, I am in the corner celebrating love. I don’t care what you call this time of year. I just want you to feel loved. It’s the spirit for me.

I don’t think Christ cares. The Christ I know is laid back. I could be wrong, but I believe that Christ is more concerned with the spirit he embodies, which is love, than you actually celebrating the birth. It feels like a petty emotion to me. And by no way am I trying to minimize those who do honor the birth. I just personally believe that in this most wonderful time of year, that God is happy that many of us are a little nicer, kinder and more respectful towards each other. It really is a beautiful thing.

Some get so upset if you say Merry Christmas. Some get upset if you don’t. Me? I don’t care what you say. I am just glad you thought of me. These are strange times. Between belief systems and political correctness, some are going to get offended. And I really hope you don’t.

I am not a highly evolved spiritual being. I am just a simple man. My belief system and traditions are just that. Mine. What you honor and celebrate has nothing to do with me. But may we meet in the middle with words of kindness, a hug, or perhaps a nod of the head. May we celebrate the spirit of love. Because I don’t think that Christ cares. As long as we can do that.
