Last Bit Of Life

Scared to die. I see it all too much. But what is the difference from those who are scared, and those who are not? The difference is how you led your life. It’s a difficult thing to talk about. It’s the end. And most don’t do well with endings. But endings are new beginnings…

Last bit of life. I spent 20 years working with incurable diseases. Watched far too many people die. It is what is done with that last bit of life that matters. It can make or break you. We can depart on our own terms. With love in our hearts or hate in our heads. Are your hands clean {metaphorically speaking?} If not, it’s time to get right. If you have time, use it to your advantage. Don’t let your departure be your damnation.

I’ve done a lot of fucked up things in my life. But from my early 20’s until now {pushing 60}, I have led a solid life. An honorable life. And who knows, I may be terrified when my time comes. I doubt it though. Because I live clean, I suspect I’ll die clean. My comfort is mercy. I have extended a whole lot of mercy. I believe that the next level will extend that mercy to me.

But what happens if your hands are not clean? If you have time, there is hope. Open your heart and let love flow. Everything that is holding you down, give it back to God…if you believe. If you don’t, forgive yourself for not knowing any better, or for not loving yourself enough. All those people who wronged you, forgive them. Hate impedes a smooth transition.

People will tell you what happens after you die. And you know what? None of it really matters. All that matters is what you do with this last bit of life. Go out being righteous. Go out with a clean heart. Make your last breath loving.
