New Day New Discipline
New day new discipline. I just got off the phone with a dear friend and mentor. We were discussing difficult times. They asked me if I still get up every morning at 4:30 and hit the gym. The answer…Always!
Tough times will come for us. Not one of us are exempt. Off the top of my head, I flashed to an old saying that I learned in the martial arts. If getting into a physical confrontation is inevitable, throw the first punch. By doing so, you may end the fight before it begins. {This is a metaphor. I am not condoning violence.} The point I am making? The bad days will come. Go after them before they get the best of you.
There is a reason why I am so disciplined, more so than anyone I know. I want to control as much as I can. There is so much beyond our control, so grab what little control you can, when you can. Everything between my diet, sleep schedule, my meditation, exercise regiment are all designed to keep me battle ready. And baby, life at times can be a battle.
So today you weren’t in top form. But there is a tomorrow. New day new discipline. Get after it. If today was a fight, tomorrow throw the first punch. Get some!
