Secret In The Eyes

Paul McCartney said the way he writes a song is to come up with a line, and build it out from there. Tonight while having dinner and watching some TV, I thought I would do the same. Since I spent an obscene amount of time in meditation, I don’t always have words let alone thoughts running through my head. So while eating dinner, I said I would click on the guide button on the remote, and the first words that came up, I would write about. So here we go…

Secret in the eyes. We all have them. Just as we all have a story. Which is one of the reasons why I have been so successful in my private practice. I listen to your words, but truth be told, I am reading your body language. More importantly, I am watching your eyes. Why? Because there truly are secrets in them. The eyes can tell stories. They can captivate you, cast a spell on you, and you can easily get lost there. Eyes. The window to your soul.

Which makes me sad because we have become a world where eye contact is practically non existent. Let’s face it. We have evolved into a society that will literally plan a mutual “phone check” while out on a date. We have become so accustomed to looking at our phones while having a conversation, that we lose connection energetically. What in the actual fuck…

I’ll let you in on another secret. My wife and I have never had a fight in over 2 decades. Sure, when we’re having TV time, we both are usually scrolling on the phone. But from day one, we are locked in when having a conversation. Eyes on each other keeps us close. I start my days at 4:30 in the morning. Before I walk out the door, I generally go and sit with her before work. Eyes locked in, I hear {and feel} everything she says to me.

So how did I do? Not bad for a random “write”. Yes, there are secret in the eyes. All you have to do is open them.
