Shelter In Face

How do people see you? Come on, be honest with yourself. And if you don’t know, just pay attention to the energy in the room when you arrive. There is so much craziness going on, but thank God for people that shelter in face.

So what is shelter in face? It’s the people that as soon as we see their face, we feel honored and protected. Like they are our shelter. Not many people have it. Everyone is so busy with their own bullshit, that not many go out of their way to be kind, or spread happiness. And how do you know? Listen to the conversations that you are having. Are they loving and supportive? Or are they recapping the problems of the day?

In a world of social media, so many are trying to be an influencer. Sounds great, doesn’t it. But just what exactly are you influencing? Because you can be an influencer, and do nothing but influence bullshit and bad behavior. Go back and look at your social media accounts. Do they inspire feelings of happiness? Or are you just stirring the pot? Again, be honest.

I get it, the allure of wanting “likes” can be enticing. I however, would rather be a shelter in face. Meaning when you see my face, you know you are safe. And at the bare minimum, you’re going to get a fair shake. I want people to know that in a storm, they are welcome into my calmness. It doesn’t make me better than anyone else. Nor is there a hidden agenda. I spent my entire life in the helping profession. And sometimes, you just need a soft landing spot, a smiling face, or silence that does nothing other than let you be yourself without judgement.

Shelter in face. A gift we’ll never know just how appreciated it is.
