Surprise The Present

First blog of the new year. So much to say. But here’s the thing. Everyone is talking about what a drag 2021 was. Or, why the Hell are we still talking about COVID? Many of you are feeling hopeful. You’re excited and have your new year resolutions lined up. But the fact is, you had the power all along my dear. That’s right. I just quoted Glenda {the good witch} from the Wizard of Oz. The one thing that I have learned from a lifetime of meditation is, there is no power in the past, nor the future. The power you have is in the now…

Don’t wait to be pleasantly surprised. Surprise the present. There is nothing wrong with having goals and aspirations. The problem lies in lack of discipline. Those new year resolutions, goals and new gym memberships will do nothing if you lack discipline. I wrote about this a few weeks ago. Start now. Whatever your goals are, you can literally take steps this very moment to get closer. The problem is you think you can’t.

This morning someone reached out to me via social media and asked how do I love myself? Look, this is going to be different for everyone. But what I can tell you is that it is going to be a process. Start small. Start with things that you would not see any relevance in doing. How about paying attention into what you’re putting into your body? How about tuning into who is depleting your relationship bank account? You know, always needing something from you, but never can be found when you need need something from them. How about waking up feeling excited about the day, instead of your first waking thought being negative. There are literally millions of ways that you can love yourself. Just pick a few that resonate with your spirit.

You won’t get far in life if you’re waiting to be pleasantly surprised. Surprise the present. Forget the new years resolutions. Do this daily. And if you do… you will find more power, more progress than any goal, coach, resolution could every bring you. The beauty of “now”, is your power is present. The question is, are you disciplined enough to get it?
