The 60 Second Smudge
At least twice a day, I smudge myself. I was telling a group of friends the other day. They asked why? I said I have to clear and reset myself. Smudging is a sacred act for me. It doesn’t take long, but it accomplishes quite a bit. It allows for me, to be into me. It is being present at that very moment. I am connected to all that there is.
Smudging to me is a form of meditation. It is a moment of gratitude. It is a quick way to recharge and refocus on what is important. While I meditate throughout the day, the physical act of smudging ensures that I am locked in without any disruptions.
If you ever were to come to my house, you would feel the energy and smell the aftereffects of the smudging. The wife smudges the house several times a week, so when I come home, I find balance and blessings. We’re a simple couple. We engage in a walk of life, that not many would probably care to. We can walk blindly. Or we can create as we walk. We choose the latter.
Because I live a fast paced life due to my work, the 60 second smudge is essential. While I am pretty good at recognizing when I need to shut it down, I do have the tendency to push beyond my limits. That is why 60 seconds is so important. One day I will walk away from my profession. Until then, 60 seconds is often a lifeline.
