The assassin, the casual acquaintance and the cheerleader. Who are you married to? Who we spend our time with, is just as important as how we spend our time. And in many cases, the 3 mentioned here, are the usual suspects. Shall we?

The assassin. We all know the type. The partner who you are always at war with. You know, they sabotage everything you do. They complain, are passive aggressive, and are killing your relationship day by day. And yet, you stay. Life is short. Run! Especially if you have children. Don’t show them defeat, or less than. Show them courage and strength. Teach them not to settle. The assassin is smart. They will employ all kinds of tactics to get you to stay. You must be smarter and stronger. If this hits home with you, it’s time to go.

The casual acquaintance. This relationship is neither good nor bad. You can take it or leave it. It lacks passion and intimacy. What it does provide though is stability. You are anchored to someone, and that beats being alone. I get why people stay. It does serve a purpose. But for me, if I don’t have passion, I don’t have purpose. More often than not, people stay because it is familiar. They have love for each other, but not in love with each other.

The cheerleader. The one who speaks life into you. They recognize your greatness, even when you are at an all time low. You two are a power couple. No force on earth can separate you. When you said “Until death do you part”, you weren’t fucking around. You have sex magic. You communicate telepathically. And because you can, there are very few arguments or disagreements.

So what are we talking about today? Time. Who are you investing your time in? Does your investment pay dividends? Is your investment a liability or an asset? Close your eyes. Now ask yourself, Am I coupled with the assassin, the casual acquaintance or the cheerleader?
