The Energy Is Off

I was minutes from home, and I was going through my head what needs to get done. The only problem was, I had 9 minutes until I had to be on a call with a client, and had about 15 minutes of things to do before the call. All good. When I get home, I kissed the wife, fed the cat, and make my way back to my office for the call. I get there and realized I couldn’t find my phone. Run through the house, checked outside, and then drove to the mailbox to see if I dropped it there. Nope! Was a little snappy with the wife, emailed my client canceling, and then off to buy a new phone. Got about two minutes out of the neighborhood and thought, “The Energy Is Off”.

It’s not too often that I lose my Zen. And to my defense, I wasn’t horrible. I just knew I could do better. For me, for my wife, and to step back into my little world of Zen. You see lately, I have been a little off. And no one has really noticed, except maybe my wife. So I’m in the car and drove right to Starbucks. Knowing the energy was off, I knew to pause. Fuck a fast pace. Give me the calm. Ordered my coffee. Chatted up the barista. Headed back home. One last stop at the mailbox, boom! There it was.

So what am I talking about tonight? I cannot think of a time in my life when the energy was off, that it turned out right. A lifetime meditation practice makes you aware of a few things. And if you’re lucky, you will put into practice what you have learned. Sure I lost 100.00 for my missed appointment. But I didn’t have to spend several hundred on a new phone. Even got to spend some quality time with my wife. Win! But the bigger win was knowing that the energy was off. When in doubt, don’t.

Today was busy AF. In fact, the past 3 weeks have been. It’s time to return to Zen. Get that balance back. Because energy is the only true currency. And you can’t spend what you don’t have. Think of it this way. When the energy is off, you’re out of energy. You may be moving. But no doubt in the wrong direction.
