The Last Tear

Another night, where they say black and you say white. One step behind, you can never get on the same page. They want Chinese food. You want Italian. Nothing, and I mean nothing seems to line up. You say you love each other, but you spend more time in conflict. Your family and friends are shaking their heads in disbelief. You’ve cried enough tears to fill a reservoir. Maybe this should be the last tear.

Why do we hang onto something that is slowly drowning us? It is possible to have respect for a person and know that they are wrong for you. Maybe that’s why we stay? Or maybe, we stay out of the promise of a brighter future. Only the future never comes. Because the future is built in the present moment. And if you’re not building, you’re beaten. Beaten in the sense that it’s not magically going to get better. You have to put in the work.

There is no shame in break ups, divorce or simply in taking a break. Go rediscover yourself. Take some time to love you, the way that you require to be loved. Don’t jump into the next distraction. Focus on you. Cheer for you. Bring the best version of you to the next relationship. And you can’t do that when you relationship hop. So stop!

All break ups aren’t bad. They can be a powerful tool in your evolution. But you have to wake up. Wake up from the dream that it’s going to get better. Does this sound like you? If this strikes a cord, then it is probably time to cut it…the cord. Make the mess a message. A message that states that you will no longer settle for anything less than magical. And if you do, you will indeed have cried your last tear.
