Worth The War
Wasted energy and wasted time. Two of life’s most valuable commodities. And that is why I am protective of both. Hopefully as we get older, we learn what is worth fighting for. I personally have been hyper focused on this as of late. And with each passing day, I become more confident of what is worth the war. The war?
The war. I have strong feelings about many things. I do not however, have the time and energy to battle every problem, person or situation that comes knocking on my door. I let a lot of shit slide. And because I do, I am at peace most of the time. There aren’t too many days that I feel off kilter. In fact, they are pretty far and few in between. Don’t get me wrong. Do I have bad days? Sure. It just takes a mountain of bullshit to get me there. Anyone that knows me IRL, would tell you that you are more likely to see a unicorn, than to see me having a bad day. I am really a laid back dude. Bad days are a rarity.
But there are things that are worth the war. Things that I will get up and show up for without question. Doesn’t matter what the day or the time. I decide when war is appropriate. Not you. Not life. And that is the beauty of having a meditative mind. Understanding the totality of everything. Knowing when to expend the energy, and when to not. When to make a time investment, and when to pump the breaks. It is a skill. But it is well worth cultivating.
So many of us have a bad encounter, or a rough couple of minutes, and then we let it derail us. We give so much power away. So many days ruined, because we cannot let the little stuff go. Not everything is personal. Not everything requires your attention.
Get quiet. Clear your mind. Find what is important to you. Because in reality, very little is worth the war.
